Tlingit  Minecraft Project

Tlingit MinecraftEdu Project

Our class created a traditional Tlingit village in MinecraftEdu.  We had to do a lot of research and a lot of planning.  We built 3 clan houses facing the ocean.  We made totem poles.  We made food cashes.  We put traditional Tlingit food in chests.  We also put wooden armor, bowls and weapons in special chests.  We had to make fire pits and smoke holes.  Each clan built a house crest on their house.  On our beach you will find canoes.  We learned that the Tlingit spent time in different camps to harvest different foods.  Each clan made a fish camp.  At camp we made a shelter, a smoke house, drying racks and fish traps. We learned that Tlingits were farmers so we made gardens.  They planted things like carrots, potatoes, turnips. We also made Tlingit signs throughout our village and camps.

Gunalchéesh  to all the parents and people who came in and supported our 21st learning. Special thank you to the Sitka School District & Mrs.Duvall for allowing our class this opportunity. J

Our first goal in MinecraftEdu is to build a school.  Our school will have at least 20 classrooms (one for each student).  We have decided that each classroom will have a area of 50 units.  It will have a perimeter of 30 units.  The height of each room will be 4 blocks high. In Minecraft, 1 block is represents 1 meter.
Each team has come up with some basic layouts.  Use the 3D Block Builder app to layout your design.
