In a makerspace my role as a teacher is help my students believe they can be inventors and creators. I need to create a learning environment that is conductive to creativity. A makerspace needs to have some set of rules to minimize confusion and interruptions. My set of makerspace rules were written using the same theme as my school’s rules: “be respectful, responsible, and safe”. I want to keep my rules simple and positive. I want students to move around and collaborate. I want students to build projects using all kinds of materials. I want students to light up LEDs, power buzzers, uses switches, build circuits and machines, etc. I want to students to learn by doing, trying and investigating.
